The Harris County Sheriff's Office (HCSO) Academy is certified by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) and abides by its rules.

Training certificates are provided to all students who satisfactorily complete Academy courses, and all training is reported to TCLEOSE. Certain courses require prerequisites (as indicated in the course descriptions) which must be met prior to acceptance for admission.

The Academy charges a nominal fee for individuals sponsored by agencies not funded by Harris County.

• • Basic Law Enforcement - $550.00.
• • Advanced Training Classes - $1.00 per contact hour with a minimum charge of $10.00 per course

Some courses taught by outside vendors require an additional fee. This fee applies to all students, and should be paid according to the instructions listed in the course description.

Application for enrollment in the Basic Peace Officer or Basic County Corrections courses must be made in writing. You may call the Academy at 281-436-2900 to receive an application. Applications are processed on a "first-come, first-serve" basis and will be acknowledged via the telephone number listed on the application
