Sheriff Adrian Garcia announced on the expansion of the earned early release credit program to lower-risk inmates who clean the banks of Buffalo Bayou and other area waterways.

Under the HCSO’s Community Alliance for Responsibility Empowerment and Safety (CARES) program, qualifying inmates earn up to one third credit on their sentences in return for enrolling in vocational education programs and performing certain job duties. The earned early release credit will now include cleaning along area waterways.
