On Friday, 10-29-10, Investigators filed the charge of Murder on Sergio Gordillo for the January 2008 stabbing which left Jorge Rivas dead.

Investigators were able to piece the case together following a tip to Crime Stoppers and comparing the DNA in blood samples from the murder scene to the DNA of Gordillo, who was arrested in August 2010 for an unrelated charge.  When confronted with the evidence, Gordillo provided investigators with a confession to the stabbing and revealed the identity of a witness who was riding in the car with the suspect at the time of the incident.  When investigators interviewed the witness, she provided a corroborating account of the events outlined by Gordillo.

Gordillo is being held in the Harris County jail in lieu of a $100,000. bond for the murder of Jorge Rivas.
