Swift Water Water Training Facility
Harris County does not currently have a dedicated training facility for water rescues, despite the region's long history of flooding. During flooding events, first responders often place themselves at risk to rescue residents in dangerous conditions.
The new Harris County Swift Water Rescue Training Facility will provide first responders from agencies throughout the region with hands-on training in swift water and high-risk environments. Officers will learn how to safely assess and respond to flood-related calls, including water-rescue techniques, avoiding entrapments, improving swimming skills, problem-solving, and team-building. This training will better prepare responders to save lives during emergencies.
